Salwar Kameez

Salwars come in many styles - Salwar Kameez, Anarkali Suits, Patiala Suites, Kurti Sets. Look for “wedding (guest),” “festive,” or “party wear” styles. These are the easiest styles to purchase and wear - tailoring is usually not required, and they can be worn easily the day of without help.

Lehenga

Lehengas are a preferred style for young ladies, consisting of a blouse, skirt, and chunni (also called a dupatta). Similar to salwars, look for “wedding (guest)”, “festive,” or “party wear” styles. Lehengas can be found pre-stitched, but tailoring may be required to get the blouse to fit just right. The store you purchase the lehenga from may have a tailor or recommend one. The blouse and skirt are very easy to wear, and the chunni is relatively easy to drape as well - draping styles can be found online or on YouTube.

Sari

Saris are classic attire for adult women. They consist of a blouse, an underskirt, and a long piece of fabric that is pleated and draped. There are many types of saris - we recommend any style made from silk, which can be found at a variety of price points with wide selections. The blouse is stitched from a piece of fabric that comes with the sari, and is made to fit by a tailor. The store you purchase the sari from may have a tailor or recommend one. Draping a sari takes practice. The tailor can pre-stitch the pleats, which will make draping much easier the day of, and resources can be found online or on YouTube for how to drape.
