There is a third hotel nearby - The Roslyn, Tapestry Collection by Hilton - that is also a great option. This is a residential area, so AirBnBs and other rentals are hard to come by, but there are plenty of other hotels in the area.

Shuttle transportation will be provided from Diane’s to the three hotels listed above following the Welcome Party. Transportation will also be provided to and from the Village Club, before and after the ceremony and reception Saturday evening.

Transportation

Please find details below for coming to Long Island and getting around. We recommend bringing a car if you have access to one as it will give you more freedom to explore throughout the weekend. That said, it’s an option to get around by Uber/Lyft/Taxi.

Additionally, shuttle transportation will be provided from Diane’s to the three recommended hotels on Friday, and before and after Saturday evening’s festivities. Stay tuned for the shuttle schedule, to be updated here.

Plane

JFK or LaGuardia are both about a 30 minute drive from the recommended hotels, although we recommend keeping an eye on traffic conditions on the days of your flights.

Train

For those traveling by Amtrak or otherwise from New York, you can take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) from Penn Station. Look for the Port Washington Line (red), and take it to the Manhasset or Port Washington stops.

Getting Around

Ubers/Lyfts are available in the area, but not always on a moment’s notice. Reservations for rides can be made through both apps, or with a local taxi company. Here is one we’ve used:

Plandome Taxi

Local Activities & Restaurants

The Area

The venue and hotels are located near Port Washington, which has a charming, walkable downtown with restaurants by the water. The hotels are located near Roslyn, which has several restaurants as well.

A 20-30 minute drive east will bring you to Huntington Village, which has a slightly larger town with many great restaurants, bars, and shops. In the same direction, Cold Spring Harbor and Northport have great small main streets. Tara grew up in the Town of Huntington.

If you have a couple of extra days, the Great South Bay, the North Fork, and the South Fork on the east end of Long Island are fun destinations in the summer.

We’ve highlighted some of our favorite activities and restaurants below, and included a link to a map with many more ideas.

Activities

Caumsett State Park

A beautiful preserve for a morning walk. Can be followed by lunch in Huntington or Cold Spring Harbor, or a visit to one of the many small beaches along the North Shore.

Sands Point Preserve

Sands Point Preserve has many walking trails and is located just down the street from the wedding venue.

Vanderbilt Museum

An old Vanderbilt mansion located on the water in Northport. You can get a ticket to the museum, see a show at the planetarium, or have a picnic on the lawn.

Restaurants

House of Dosas in Hicksville

A family favorite for a great, casual, vegetarian South Indian meal

Diwan in Port Washington & Hicksville

Another frequented restaurant, this time for North Indian food in a slightly more formal atmosphere

Bistro Cassis in Huntington & La P’tite Framboise in Port Washington

Bistro Cassis is one of our favorite restaurants, and La P’tite Framboise is a sister restaurant located near the venue, both with great classic French fare

Hendrick’s, Besito, & The Jolly Fisherman in Roslyn

All walking distance to Diane’s

Louie’s in Port Washington

Seafood and drinks on the water! As seen in Meet the Parents

Boychik’s Bagels

Don’t leave Long Island without getting a bagel

Golf

Timber Point

Tommy’s favorite public course on the island. It’s a bit of a trek from the wedding venue, so plan for plenty of time to get there and back.

Bethpage

Host of the 2002 and 2009 US Open and 2019 PGA Championship. The Black course is difficult to get a tee time, but they do accept walk ins if you want to check for availability. If you can't find a tee time on the Black course they have four other courses you can try to play.
